Carbon Composite Passenger Ferry Foil

Bieker Boats re-engineered and provided construction guidance for the second lifting foil fitted to a catamaran passenger ferry built by All American Marine of Bellingham, WA. The foil was part of a package designed by Teknicraft Design to test the concept of a low-wake passenger ferry for the run from Seattle, WA through Rich Passage to Bremerton, WA.

The maximum design load for the foil is approximately 70 tons. It was built predominantly of carbon laminates in female molds by Jim Betts in Anacortes, WA. Bieker Boat’s engineering resulted in a foil that is significantly stronger and yet lighter than the original concept.
