The Red Boat is the first boat that I designed and built (circa 1992). I built it during evenings and weekends while holding down my Naval Architecture day job. It was built from thin okoume plywood and is still being sailed. This is the first boat in which I applied the computer aided patterning techniques that I was learning in my commercial Naval Architecture work to a performance yacht. All of the plywood pieces in the boat (including the hull and deck skins) were pre-lofted with reference marks and nested on sheets of plywood. These were all cut from pre-finished stock before building began. Stringers and clamps were Sitka Spruce.
